What is a Buy Now Link?

Customers click on the Buy Now link from Download.com to load the purchase pages that will collect information such as name, address and phone number, and credit card details. The URL provided for the Buy Now link can also be used on other web sites, or any other place you want to sell online.

What is a purchase confirmation email?

This email goes automatically to each new customer confirming the purchase of your product.

Can I customize the purchase email?

Of course. When you configure Merchant Services for your products, you'll be able to customize certain fields, such as: From Name, From Email and Subject. The body of the email will be a standardized template, but will be automatically customized with information specific to your product, such as your product name. You'll also be able to include special instructions to your customers.

How often do we receive our software revenue?

Protexis pays you by check once a month.

Do we have to import serial numbers?

No, this is option for companies who want to upload their own serial numbers in a plain text file.

How do you protect against credit card fraud?

Every time we process a transaction, we validate the card using industry-standard authentication systems such as CVC (Card Verification Code), which confirms the user has entered the correct three-digit security code visible on the back of the card. We also use Hacker Safe, a third-party security system, to monitor our server.

Once I have posted my Buy Now Link, how can I check sales numbers?

Use our handy Purchase Report, located in the Reports section, to track the number of units sold and associated dollar value.

Can I customize the purchase page?

Yes. You can specify text and background colors, and upload your company logo.

How do I know which sales taxes to configure for my products?

Tax laws will vary from company to company and from location to location. You should check with the appropriate department, advisor or authority to determine your particular taxation situation.

Can customers monitor the progress of their orders?

Yes. Customers who pay offline, i.e., by check, can track their orders with their order code and the email address used for the purchase.

I have a customer who wants a refund. What do I have to do?

You have to send requests for refunds to Protexis via email. The request must include the following information:

  1. The email address used for the purchase or to register the software
  2. Product Name
  3. Serial Number
  4. Order ID
  5. Date purchased

Once your approved refund request reaches Protexis, the order details are retrieved from the database and a refund request is made electronically to the relevant financial institution. Financial institutions can take between three and six weeks to fully process a refund.

Protexis will deactivate serial numbers generated by Protexis or those imported into the Merchant Services Center upon receipt of refund request from the publisher. Publishers using alternative copy protection methods and/or their own serial numbers must manage their own serial number deactivation.
